Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with Fredriche-Ebert Foundation, concluded the training workshop of Young Leaders Program / Third class. The workshop was entitled “Peaceful coexistence and peacebuilding “the workshop was held in Najaf governorate during 29 Aug-1 Sep 2019.

24 Young men and women of all Iraqi Governorates participated in the workshop , they were instructed by Mr. Khudher Domli, as he defined the reality of Coexistence from the young people perspective , he also define the coexistence is and how to contribute in strengthening it  , and what are basics of a well-founded coexistence.

During the workshop, strengthening partnership in spreading the concepts of peaceful coexistence and its attitudes, and how to

Contribute in building in post conflicts societies, as well achieving security, which is considered as a key factor in materializing peace and stability

And what it will take for transitional Justice Stage, which starts with procedures of accountability and courts, is considered as the most important and effective for all”  he also addressed reconstruction and the economic stability it usually achieves , and reparation through material and immaterial compensations that would bring confidence in Justice and peacebuilding procedures, it was affirmed that reconciliation process should be according to contexts that take  communities into consideration “ rehabilitation of victims as observing the psychological factor and help them to integrate and  eliminate conflicts effects”.

The training adopted the concept of practical applications and exercises through workgroups that contributed to involvement of all participants in active discussion and mentioning experiments and instances.

The workshop was ended after two intensive days of training, which was evaluated by the young participants as smooth, important and useful for it gets along with their participation and roles in conflict period and stability achieving.

Also, the young participants expressed their joy in visiting Najaf Governorate, which is for many of them considered as the first visit. They were familiarized, after training, with the cultural, religious, and recreational status of the city.

They visited religious shrines, mosques, Wadi Alsalam cemetery, Bahr Al-najaf, poor neighborhoods and malls. It was as an educational trip for many of them coming from Non-Muslim backgrounds and for young people coming from Kurdistan Region, they expressed their gratitude to the Administration of the organization, the professional instructor and for their co-participants in the program and its graduates from Najaf governorate, who welcomed their guests warmly hoisting the hashtag of Najaf_ is_ not_ only_ a_ cemetery.

It’s worth mentioning that Young-leaders program in Iraq is a project implemented by Tammuz Organization for Social Development for the third year in cooperation with Foundation of Fredric Ebert in Jordan and other Arab countries.

The purpose of it is to invest in the field of Young-people abilities, raising awareness in the light of changes in The Arab World. And also to strengthen networking and communication among young participants of different governorates in preparation to get involved in politics and civil society. Especially after success was achieved in in its First & Second class     , as about 75 young men and women were graduated and now they have more effective civil presence.
