To Protect Fallujah Municipality’s Employees

 On 2/8/2020, in the presence of some representatives of Fallujah Municipality, Social insurance, trade union, and Fallujah health department in addition to some activists of civil society organizations and some concerned departments. Tammuz Organization for Social Development participated in a meeting was held by the Social Cohesion Council in Fallujah, the meeting was entitled as “To protect Fallujah Municipality’s Employees”.

At the beginning of the meeting, our colleague Mohammed Ibrahim gave an overview on Social Cohesion Council and the reason behind its foundation, the most prominent axes of the meeting were dedicated to protect employees in the work field, increasing their wages according to Labor Code 2015.  Several recommendations were resulted at the end of the meeting, the most important of which are:

- To form an inter-agency commission composed of Trade union ,department of occupational safety in department of health, lawyers, civil society organizations, activists in the field of labor  rights to visit Fallujah Municipality Department  to have a closer look on the number of employees working by day and organizing a survey on them.

-To develop suitable mechanisms to regulate the minimum wage in Iraq in general and the punishment of offenders of employers.

-to launch media campaigns that clarify the importance and perspectives of the minimum wage for employees.

4- To revise the payroll of Municipality Department for employees working by day    and including them within the minimum wage of the Labor Code.
