Empowering Female Journalists: Third workshop

In partnership with Tammuz Organization for Social Development, The National Syndicate of Journalists in Iraq, held its third workshop to empower Iraqi female journalists, which was held in Baghdad for the period 24-27 December 2020 at the Sindbad Palace Hotel hall with the participation of 13 journalists from different governorates of Iraq, and the workshop dealt with 3 main subjects:
- Preparing news and journalistic stories, training in the news, the structure and elements of a story, the difference between story and news, the structure of investigative reporting/trainer Delovan Barwari.
- Gender and its most important concepts, media coverage from a gender perspective, the role of the media in shaping societal values, gender analysis in the media/trainer Dr. Elham Makki.
Promotion and how to use phone techniques, besides how to convert media materials into the flash video feature, besides training on proper publishing methods on social media sites / the trainer Manaf Ghanem
The project manager, Yasser Al-Salem / President of the National Syndicate of Journalists, opened the workshop with a welcoming speech to our taking part colleagues, wishing that these workshops would contribute to developing their expertise in journalism and within the aforementioned topics, to prepare a generation of female journalists capable of handling journalistic action in Iraq and addressing several important political and societal issues.
the role of Iraqi women journalists and the importance of developing the journalistic style and tools, was highlighted, and showing that there is a desire to develop and advance the Iraqi press, besides that work is ongoing to establish an electronic platform that will be ready during the months to come, through which it can support Iraqi journalists and give them an opportunity Disseminating media content in various journalistic arts with a focus on social, humanitarian and political issues and he assured that the Syndicate will follow up on female journalists and the extent of their journalistic progress during the project period, in cooperation with trainers.
This was followed by a welcoming speech by our colleague, project coordinator, Enas Jabbar / member of the Tammuz Organization for Social Development, hoping that the workshop would achieve its objectives in developing the capabilities of the participants and be an excellent opportunity for them to develop their work in journalism and media. Our colleague, the project coordinator, emphasized the organization's effective role in empowering women in various fields through projects implemented by the organization in earlier periods.
The workshop included the preparation of working groups and effective discussions by the taking part colleagues who expressed their admiration for the distinction of the issues and topics raised over the course of the workshop, and it was emphasized to continue their commitment to the program to prepare the reports required by them and enriching the electronic platform that will be provided with topics and news reports And the journalist prepared by them.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation and thanking the taking part colleagues for their commitment and interaction in the workshop, and wishing them all the best in their journalistic and media work, whether within or outside the program.
