IHEC: Visit to Dhi-Qar Office

IHEC: Visit to Dhi-Qar Office

On 3/1/2021, I visited the Electoral Commission, Dhi Qar office, and met the Director-General of Dhi Qar Office, Mr. Qasim Ali, the manager Mr. Ahmed Abd Dakhel, and persons in charge of the Media and Training Division of the IHEC. As the Director-General expressed his thanks and appreciation to Tammuz Organization and its office in Dhi Qar for their cooperation through the electoral cycles that were held in the country and he also praised its professionalism. During our meeting, we also addressed the biometric update rate, which reached 67 percent. It was also agreed to continue holding joint seminars between the Office of the IHEC and the organization’s office. It was agreed that the place of holding such seminars will be in Dhi Qar University, where the organization’s office has prior coordination at the university, and the districts and sub-districts in the governorate and the mobile teams of the IHEC accompanied by our colleagues from the organization’s office. Also, Several Satellite channels had me on their tv shows including Al-Baghdadia, Al-Iraqiya, Al-Sharqiya, Al-Nasiriyah, and Al-Nasiriyah News Network, during which focus was placed on elections, the electoral law, and updating of the voter register. Also, interviews were held about the rights of the biometric registry employees and their installation as members of the staff as that they had worked for four election cycles without installation and that it should be taken from a humanitarian perspective.
