Using citizen journalism tools to enhance social cohesion

Tammuz Organization for Social Development, in cooperation with Sabaq Center for Media Development and in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), held its first training workshop on (using citizen journalism tools to enhance social cohesion), over a period of five days for the period 3-7 / December / 2020, at the Qasr Sinbad Hotel / Baghdad, in the presence of 21 young men from seven governorates of Iraq.
The training workshop was inaugurated with a welcoming speech by the head of the Sabaq Center for Media Development in Iraq, Yasser Al-Salem, stressing that the Sabaq Center for Media Development will work to establish an electronic platform that will be ready during the coming period, as it can support young journalists and journalists and allow them to publish Media content in various journalistic fields, with a focus on social and humanitarian issues, and affirmed that the Sabaq Center for Media Development will follow up female and male journalists and the extent of their journalistic development during the project period.
The first day of the workshop began with the trainer, Khadr Al-Dumali, over two days, which was on the topic of "Using citizen journalism tools to enhance social cohesion", in which he explained the most prominent effects resulting from conflicts that occurred in society - especially those effects and results that affect societal stability in the long run. The effects that the citizen does not directly seek - and these results are often the reason for pushing activists to write about the effects of the conflict and they are a cause of fueling or incitement as part of the feeling of grievance towards the loss of opportunities or the delivery of their voice or the lack of justice and fairness or as part of plans or A personal methodology for dropping charges and distorting labels, social cohesion and peace building for post-conflict societies, foundations and components of social cohesion / explanations and applications, The training included a number of exercises and practical applications to understand the social cohesion map
As for day 2. Explaining during which community initiatives, steps to implement media cohesion initiatives, challenges that stand in the way of implementing social cohesion initiatives, choosing topics for youth initiatives to enhance social cohesion on the third day of the workshop, start with the trainer Muhammad Abdullah over a period of three days. Continue with topics related to choosing stories and telling them and their types. They may be personal stories, community stories, topics that change attitudes, topics of help and support, confronting hate speech, topics related to promoting diversity and pluralism, Stories of intermarriage between different societies, stories of women survivors, stories of youth for joint work and communication, stories and obstacles to the front of the integration of societies , Image (types. Its significance, special shot), photo-taking exercise, mobile applications for photography and editing
On the fourth day of the workshop, which was specialized in the photography and its types, explaining the Quik application, the creation of public content from the Internet, the writing of a story. On the fifth day, our colleague Lamees Qahtan, the project coordinator, began with it by presenting an overview of Tammuz Organization for Social Development, which is the organization that carried out this training workshop in cooperation with the Sabaq Center for Media Development and in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the most important goals and achievements of the organization and the most important issues that it worked on and are still Working as. The trainer, Muhammad Abdullah, communicated about the importance of citizen journalism and the impact of technology on it, reviewing results and identifying the most influential social platforms. At the end of the workshop, thanks were given to the trained professors who shared their experiences with the participants, and colleagues thanked for their effective and distinguished participation during the days of the workshop.
