An initiatory session on women's rights in the Iraqi constitution

On Monday, February 28, 2022, in Dhi Qar Governorate, Tammuz Organization for Social Development held an initiatory session on women’s rights in the Iraqi constitution, for female students of Arido High School for Girls, as part of the Female Revolution Project.

The session, which was attended by 72 female students, was aimed at introducing these age groups to their constitutional rights due to the ignorance of the majority of this group of their rights.

During the session, the discussion revolved around several rights, laws and constitutional articles, including the right to equality without discrimination on the basis of sex, the right of women to security and safety, and the right to equal opportunities, in addition to her political rights, including the right to vote, elect, and be nominated, and the right to political representation in Parliament at a rate of no less than a quarter (quota).

It is worth noting that the “Female Revolution” project is implemented by the Tammuz Organization in cooperation with the PAX organization in the governorates of Najaf and Dhi Qar. It is a program that aims to highlight the role of women and develop their capabilities, to be able to change their stereotyped image and participate effectively in leadership and decision-making centers.
