“Training Workshop on Transitional Justice Measures”

 

At the invitation of Al-Amal association, Tammuz participated in a training workshop on “Transitional justice measures and reparation in the Iraqi context “and that was held in Erbil on 21-25 February 2022.

In the workshop, a number of civil society organizations’ representatives and figures on behalf of study centers. This workshop comes within a project aims to build the capacities of local civil society organizations, governmental figures in order to integrate in dialogue and consultants exchange in revealing truth topics.

Equity initiatives in Iraq, in addition to developing skills and knowledge, giving space for dialogue and building partnerships to achieve restorative justice.

The discussion took place during the days of the workshop on several topics, the most important of which was refocusing the concepts of transitional justice, the conceptual framework for dealing with the past, the relationship between truth and non-repetition, in addition to restorative justice and reparation in the Iraqi context "Reality and Challenges".

The workshop also included practical training among the participants on the same topics. In conclusion, it was agreed on the need to unify efforts to work in a participatory manner, not only to achieve transitional justice, but to work with guarantees of non-repetition of the past and to empower victims and redress their harm.
