To discuss the challenges facing the Women's Protection Center in Dhi Qar

On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, the female revolution team organized a dialogue session to discuss the challenges facing the Women's Protection Center in Dhi Qar in cooperation with the Women's Empowerment Committee in the Engineers Syndicate and the Women's Empowerment Committee in Dhi Qar Governorate.

The aim of the session was to shed light on the challenges facing the center and the cases that were received, especially since this center is considered the first shelter and protection house for women under government supervision in the southern governorates, in implementation of Resolution 1325 on women's rights, peace and security.

Ms. Alaa Naji, Director of the Women’s Protection Center was invited to talk about the center’s work and the most prominent difficulties they face, as she showed the center received many women who suffer from gender-based violence, some of them are fugitives because of their parent's drug addiction and others are fleeing from attempted murder from They accepted their families because Article 128 of the effective Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969 permits their families to kill them under the name of “honor crimes” and gives the offender a reduced sentence or an exemption from the sentence.

After that, the floor was opened for discussion on how to develop the center’s work and expand its scope for the purpose of receiving the largest number of cases, in addition to making proposals, the most important of which are preparing rehabilitation programs for women exposed to violence and integrating them with society again.
