“Democracy Needs Civic Education.”

On Friday, May 20, 2022, in Erbil, at the invitation of the German Parliament organization, Tammuz took part in a meeting to study the feasibility of establishing an electronic outlet for civic education.

The meeting had an attendance of several international and local organizations, as well as personalities specializing in the digital and media fields.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss among the concerned parties the information collected regarding the feasibility and suitableness of developing an electronic platform for civic education in Iraq.

As the main focus of discussions, among the participants, was the content of the platform and its mechanisms of action, as well as ways of collaboration to develop the platform, and the conference included the exhibition of international experiences in civic education and what challenges it faced in its work.

In conclusion, most of the participants stressed the importance of having such a platform that would contribute to raising awareness in the civil field, informing every one of their rights, and spreading the concepts of human rights and gender equality.
