Improving women's involvement in the extractive businesses sector

Tammuz Organization for Social Development took part in the workshop "Improving Women's Participation in the Extractive Industries Sector" at the invitation of the Dhar Center for Development and the Iraqi Alliance for Transparency in Extractive Industries on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Oil Cultural Center hall in Baghdad.

The purpose of the workshop was to talk about how to evolve the reality of women’s contribution to the extractive industries sector in Iraq from a gender point of view, besides the most critical challenges faced by women in this sector and the solutions provided, leading to valuable recommendations and an appropriate and workable action plan to reach more qualitative participation of women in this The vital sector of the Iraqi economy.

After that, the attendees were divided into two working groups, each group discussing the opportunities and challenges facing women's participation in this sector, and coming up with a specific priority recommendation to be worked on in the future.

After a considerable discussion, some recommendations were made, the most essential of which is the demand of providing occupational safety requirements for women and activating the occupational and health safety law for workers, involving women strategy and plan that must be worked. On.
