The quality of education between private and Public

on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Baghdad Academy for Humanities,Tammuz Organization for Social Development held a symposium entitled "The Quality of Education between the Private and the public" within the activities of the seventh season of the Iraqi Social Forum.

The session was attended by a number of interested persons and specialists in the education sector, in addition to activists and representatives of both sexes from civil society organizations, during the session, our colleague Evan Karim gave a lecture on the difference between the status of education in the present and the past in Iraq in terms of scientific sobriety, technological development, scientific laboratories and curricula.

Some statistics were also presented about school dropout rates, enrollment in education, and the number of schools that should be available to fill the shortage in the number of schools. The issue of private universities and the extent of their relevance and impact on higher education in Iraq was also discussed.

After that, the door for discussion and interventions was opened, and the symposium ended with a diagnosis of a group of challenges facing education, the most prominent of which are:

* The increase in school dropouts, despite having legal guarantees that ensure free and compulsory education, but the absence of penalties for those who fail makes these percentages a constant increase.

* The lack of the most basic services in public schools has led families to resort to private education, despite the financial burdens borne by people with limited income.

Poor coordination between the Ministries of Education and Higher Education regarding the preparation of graduates transferring to university education.

* The restrictions practiced on teaching staff in universities in terms of publishing research and practical development and imposing exorbitant financial fees greatly affected the level of giving of these staff in providing research, studies and scientific research in Iraq.

* The rampant corruption in these institutions (Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education) with book printing deals and changing educational systems without planning, for example, adopting the course system for intermediate and preparatory stages and then canceling it and the consequent printing of books and a complete change in the method of scientific subjects besides adopting the applied and biological system for the scientific branch And then canceling all these confusions missed real opportunities for students closely linked to the future of the scientific student and the lack of a fixed form of the educational situation.
